The Dawn

His fragile fingers hesitantly knocked all the glass windows . The sound of the undying honks of the cars echoed in his ears.they weren't annoying to him as it was for the others .His tiny feet treaded the uneven road...inch by inch."Knock knock!!".As soon as it came to a halt, the glass window vanished and behind it was a man , elegantly dressed in his suit with his bow tie unduly suspended from the collar .he wore a watch on his right wrist that glared in the sunlight.A gruff voice enquired"what do you want??". frightened by the coarseness of the voice, he mumbled "Mm..". His flattened palm rose to the window. The man's eyes were glued to the minute hand of his watch. As the minute hand swept thirty degrees, he looked out .... nodded his head from left to right. uttered a "tut-tut" in haste and slowly the face started disappearing as the glass window was ascending. He shook his head down and kept walking down the road. As he moved out of the traffic, his eyes caught a glimpse of something which made him stand motionless. There it was- A red eyed monster that beamed in pride for having controlled anything on the road.
Five...Four..Three...Two...One....and its eyes turned green and his eyes were flooded with tears. he rubbed the overflowing tears with his rags and slowly moved from that place dismayed.and as he did , he felt agonizing pain in his stomach .He could sense the voids in his abdominal cavity.'A chunk of Food' was all that it demanded. The clear sky was growing dull and all he could see was nothing but darkness. He heard a loud thud ! he was totally in a different world.
He was on his new trousers and a powder white tee. He was jumping , playing and explored great heights of joy. And to his delight ,there it was- The much awaited guest-"Rain!!".He wiped those tiny droplets of water from his face and slowly, his small eyes opened.
And there stood a man neatly dressed , in his early thirties . He lent him his hand, lifted him gently and offered him some water. Those shaky hands grabbed the bottle and he gulped it down as if he had been deported to Thar desert for years. As the last drop of water jumped into his larynx , his vocal cords rose to life. "thank you,..sssir" -his voice exclaimed in gratitude.
The stranger sat beside him and on inquiring , found out that the boy had been orphaned . He bent down to him and spoke."My dear ,would you like to go to school?!" His head nodded positively .He was taken to a place that was the home of delicate adolescents who were pushed into desperation.they had been freed from juvenile courts and it was a spot of regeneration and rejuvenation .His life which had hitherto been shaking hands with tragedy , was free from all the struggles of daily existence.
He was given a plate full of food. He gobbled it to his heart's content. He was given a bag full of books. For once , he bade goodbye to those rags.He wore the bag on his shoulders . It was heavy - but not heavier than the burden he had carried all these years. He heaved a sigh of relief. For once, the smile in his lips didn't fade out as his dreams . He knelt down , craned his neck upwards, closed his eyes .His lips muttered "Thank you god- for bringing my dreams to life!!". Slowly, his eyes opened. And there it was - The Dawn.
